Our Impact
Who We Are
Max’s Kicks for Kids is a non-profit organization that provides new back-to-school shoes for children in need in Southeastern Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Max’s Kicks for Kids (MK4K) was founded in honor and memory of Max Engle. Max worked as a probation officer in Chester County, until his death in September 2018.
If you knew Max, you know he was passionate. In his career as a probation officer, Max helped give countless people the second chance they needed in life. Max was the first male probation officer in Chester County’s WRAP (Women’s Reentry Assessment & Programming) Initiative. In this role, he worked with at-risk women who were on parole or probation. He helped these women rebuild and restart their lives, and by helping them, he helped their families. After his death, we heard from many people about the impact Max had on their life.
Max was also passionate about sneakers. He had a collection of dozens of pairs. He had sneakers he never wore; he purchased them “as investments”.
We want to continue Max’s impact on families, to keep his light shining. Max’s Kicks for Kids will provide new, back-to-school sneakers for children who would not otherwise be able to afford them. These children have many struggles to overcome; with our help, they won’t have to worry about having a good pair of shoes to start the school year.
